'Every four minutes a person dies by suicide' WHO.

The motivation for The Low Road was crystal clear; to tell a compelling story that gives voice to the thousands of people across the world self-harming or suicidal.

A work of fiction, The Low Road speaks to the struggles facing young people and the devastating impact suicide can have. However, our film also gives a ray of realistic hope in its powerful unfolding and transformation of our young hero.

Storytelling is a powerful art that can move people to relate to one another, to learn and connect. Storytelling can ultimately change someones life-choices. We wanted to share a story that everyone can relate to, whether you have experienced feelings of depression, whether you've supported your best friend through tough times or even lost a family member to suicide.

Through your support, we can ensure that this movie has the best chance of being accessible to the world. Following an Awareness Day launch in 2025, we intend to go on the road with the film for UK tour. Together with charities supporting mental health, we intend to beam The Low Road into people's hearts across the world!
Suicide and self harm affects millions of people all around the world. It is estimated that there are currently more than 700,000 suicides per year worldwide (WHO 2023) and 25% of young adults self-harm. These numbers have far reaching impacts which ripple out to parents, partners, children and friends.

3 out of 4 of people who die by suicide are not in contact with mental health services.
Suicide is the main cause of death in young people under the age of 35 in the UK.

The Low Road received script development support from UK charity, Samaritans, aims to be a beacon of light in these dark times.

SUPPORTING OUR MISSION
In 2025 we will launch the film in partnership with leading suicide prevention charities. An event planned in the spring will highlight the shocking reality that 7000 a year, in the UK alone, take their own life. The film will be accessible on multiple charity websites as well cinema events across the UK. We will also be screening The Low Road at educational institutions and provide support networks simultaneously.
This powerful, cinematic film will move many hearts, raise awareness and start much-needed open conversations around self-harm and suicide.

Vision for The Low Road

"The overall vision for The Low Road is that if one person who sees this doesn’t take their life or self-harm as a result, then we have all created a success for the world."
